Douglas Polen - Assistant Town Administrator

Doug Polen was born and raised in Sumter, South Carolina, and has spent over fifteen years in local government. Doug has served as a Town Planner, Economic Development Director, Main Street Director, and City Manager during his career, including serving as the Community Development Director of the fast-growing community of Moncks Corner, South Carolina from 2015 - 2022.

Doug received his undergraduate education in economics and history from Wofford College in Spartanburg, followed by a master's degree in public administration from the University of Georgia and a master's degree in business administration from the University of Virginia. He has completed both the South Carolina Economic Development Institute and the Advanced Local Government Leadership Institute, holds professional certifications as both a planner and floodplain manager, and serves on the Board of Directors of the South Carolina Community Development Association.

Doug is married to Mary, an art teacher with Richland District 1, and is the father of two wonderful children.
