Explorer Post

The Irmo Police Department’s Explorer Post is designed to give youth between the ages of 14-20 a working knowledge of police functions and a feeling of social awareness and responsibility, and at the same time, to stimulate interest in law enforcement practices and code of ethics.

Law Enforcement Exploring is a division of the Boy Scouts of America that gives youth a hands-on look at what a career is law enforcement is really like.

Explorers serve the community in various ways such as directing traffic at special events and crime prevention programs.  Once Explorers become eligible, they can participate in the ride-a-long program.  The program holds routine meetings to discuss business and upcoming events.  Participation in the Irmo police Department’s Law Enforcement Exploring Program is a great start to a career in law enforcement.
