Artist Spotlight
Each quarter a local artist is named Artist of the Quarter, in which the Town has collaborated with Studio 3P on this project. The collaboration gives local artists the opportunity to display their work in Town Hall and the chance for the Town to support the arts.
The Town is always looking for artists who are interested in sharing their work with our community. Art must be deemed suitable for display in a public setting within the broad standards of community acceptability and be appropriate for all age groups, including children. If you are interested in exploring having your artwork displayed, we'd love to hear from you! Fill out the Artist Submission form and we will be in touch.

From Artist Lisa Alberghini:
"I have been an artist for as long as I can remember. I started drawing when I was a little girl and never stopped. My mother was a wonderful artist and my inspiration. I used to watch her draw and paint and was mesmerized by the beautiful drawings and paintings she created. I would draw on any scrap piece of paper I could find as a child. As I got older, I started trying different mediums: charcoal, pencil, chalk, pastels, and then started painting with oils. My mother and I would take an art class occasionally at the local community college and that’s where my love for watercolors began.
The need for art in my life has increased over the years. There is a peace I feel within while painting or drawing. It is my escape from the real world.
Art, for me, is a release into a world of creativity and a time for me to leave the worries of the world behind. When I am painting or drawing, I am totally focused on what I’m working on, and time just passes by.
I love the feeling when a piece is complete. I can’t describe the feeling, but it is a true sense of joy and satisfaction. I am always amazed at the finished piece and know that my talent is a God given talent.
As I get older, I am trying to focus more on painting and drawing. Whether it be a watercolor painting, a Zentangle drawing, or a mural on a wall; my paint brushes and pens are always ready."
2022 Artist of the Month
Born in Texas to a military family, we moved around a bit and finally settled here in Irmo during the spring of 1977. My mother was a semi-professional oil painter and teacher. My father, while being career army, was also an amateur painter, sculptor and carpenter.
Growing up around easels with the smell of turpentine and sawdust in the air was normalcy for me, but I had a propensity towards the musical arts. And while I always kept up with the family tradition of painting as a hobby, it wasn't until a few years ago after a quick succession of major tragedies which included the death of my mother, that I decided to dedicate my life to my art.
Primarily a commission artist, I specialize in land and waterscapes.

Although I do enjoy exploring the beauty of working with portraits of both people and animals. I'm constantly exploring new ideas and incorporating all of my experiences into my work.

I have been a graphic designer for many years and spent the majority of my career in the printing industry. I started using what I knew about color, balance and visually appealing subject matter to create art that represents my personality and love for design and art.
Prior to the pandemic, I taught classes on fluid art painting for a year and a half. I worked with schools, companies, organizations, churches and kid’s groups and more to provide fun, informative classes around the Columbia area.
During the pandemic, I turned my focus to creating art for exhibitions. I have exhibited at Rob Shaw Gallery, Land Bank Lofts, Aloft Hotel, NoMa Warehouse, 14 Carrot Foods, Musician's Supply, State & Frink Meeting Space, Pitter Platter, Nicky’s Pizzeria, Carolina Imports, Cottontown Art Crawl, Melrose Art in the Yard, Autumn Faire Arts Festival, The Artist Coop, Still Hopes Episcopal Home, Irmo Chamber of Commerce and Irmo Town Hall.
Currently I am working on a new series of retro space futurism to exhibit at upcoming events. They include mixed media work as well as hand painted ray guns and robots. My childhood love affair with science fiction has inspired me to create colorful, whimsical space art that I absolutely love making.

Upon returning to Columbia, she enrolled at the University of South Carolina studying painting, ceramics and printmaking. I use many materials in my work and recently retired from the hospital. I went to school for art and always had a duel resume. But now I'm back where my heart lives in nature.
